Folklore of long tunnels which lead to vast underground halls inside Mount Shasta. Where walls are polished by master-craftsmen. The floors are carpeted with fleecy fabric of mineral origin. Ornaments of gold, silver, bronze and precious stones embellish the subterranean shelter. There are divans placed along walls, upholstered with the same material as the carpet. Secret doors hide the entrances to the underground quarters. These stone doors are opened by anti- gravity devices. The cave colony is brilliantly illuminated by an unknown power.

Professor E.L. Larkin of Mt. Lowe Observatory in California was testing his powerful telescope. All of a sudden, he spotted on the slopes of Mt. Shasta, using his exact words – “a marvelous work of carved marble, and onyx rivaling in architectural splendor the magnificence of the temples of Yucatan.”
California’s old timers say, these strange people have visited towns in the Mt. Shasta area and even made purchases of sulphur, salt and lard. JC Brown; According to legend, JC Brown was a British prospector who discovered a lost underground city beneath Mt. Shasta in 1904. Brown had been hired by The Lord Cowdray Mining Company of England to prospect for gold, and discovered a cave which sloped downward for 11 miles. In the cave, he found an underground village filled with gold, shields, and mummies, some being up to 10 feet tall.
Thirty years later, he told his story to John C. Root who proceeded to gather an exploration team in Stockton, California. 80 people joined the team, but on the day the team was to set out, Brown did not show up. Brown was not heard from again. More Folklore
